Fountainhead Development, Inc. has begun construction of a new building to house the Fountainhead Antique Auto Collection. The 30,000 square-foot building, located on the grounds of Wedgewood Resort, will display historically significant advancements in early American automotive technology and design, as well as showcase the heritage of the automobile in early Alaska.
Features:
- Over 45 rare and historic automobiles that illustrate advances in American automotive engineering and design from 1898 to 1936.
- A separate, special exhibit highlighting Alaska’s automotive history. Limited display space will be available for private cars that have historic Alaska significance.
- An extensive photo display of automobiles in early Alaska.
- A unique exhibit illustrating the role of women in automobile development.
- Three significant “midget” racers from the 1930's. Each have race history and model the changes in engine technology during the period.
- Period clothing displays from the late Victorian era through the early 1930's.
- Facility rental and catering service for special events & receptions. (Not Currently Booking)
The Collection:
- The vehicles in the Fountainhead Antique Auto Collection were chosen for their contributions to engineering and design. Each car represents a part of the evolution of the automobile in the late 19th and early 20th Century.
- All of the automobiles will be maintained in full working order. Each summer evening (weather permitting) one or two vehicles will be driven on the grounds of Wedgewood Resort.

Seeking the following items to enhance the Collection:
- Information on pre-1940 vehicles with Alaska provenance
- Photos of cars in early Alaska
- Antique Alaska automobilia such as tire skis and chains, gas pumps, signs, lap quilts, and foot warmers
- 1900-1940 vintage Alaska clothing, including coats, hats, boots, dresses and ice-skates
- An original Valdez Trail stage sleigh or antique double-ender sleigh
